Digivideo was launched in the autumn of 2008 as a part of the project Digital video as a tool for the island youth and digital forum. During the five course weekends youths from Iniö made together eight fine short films about the archipelago, the sea, their own surroundings. In the spring the course was arranged at Velkua where local youths produced, among other things, a short documentary about the famous Velkua ape. The course continues at Bergö as a part of the project Network and digital forum for the island youth.

The idea of the project is to make it possible for the island youth to become acquainted with the production and the technical means of film making, perhaps the most important current means of communication, under the guidande of professionals but using ordinary facilities. It is also important for them to learn about the cooperative and communicative strenghts and opportunities that are connected with the production of a film. The target group is the island youth in the age category 13 to 25 year, flexibly implementing the local circumstances, however.

On the islands of Iniö and Velkua Lotta Petronella has acted as the direktor, while Aapo Lettinen has had the roles of the technical instructor and coordinator. At FÖSS the responsible persons are Eva Lettinen and Aapo Lettinen. The project has been supported by the foundations Föreningen Konstsamfundet and Svenska kulturfonden as well as the State Provincial Office of Western Finland.
